====== Image Settings ====== The 'Image Settings' page allows you to define a variety of settings related to image upload and the size of the images for your site. = Image Upload Component : There are a number of image upload components that different servers support. You should contact your host in order to find out the correct component to choose in this field. An alternative (and probably quicker) method of determining the correct choice is to place an ad using each method. If the image upload isn't successful or the quality of the image isn't good, try the next method in the list. = Allowed Extensions : Whenever you provide the ability for subscribers to upload assets (in this case, images) to your site, it's always a good idea to limit what sort of files are allowed as a security measure. The default values for the allowed filetypes are: GIF, JPG, JPEG, BMP, and PNG. = Large Image width : When a member uploads an image, a couple of things occur - a thumbnail and "large image" are created with maximum dimensions that you specify here. Each ad will include a thumbnail of the image the member uploaded (assuming, of course, the member chose an ad package that allows images). When a visitor visits the ads detail page and clicks on the thumbnail, a new window opens that displays the "large image". The width of the large image is defined here. The Width/Height ratio stay the same so, if you have defined the image width, the image height is optional. If neither value is entered, the image will not be resized. We don't suggest that you leave BOTH width and height fields empty. Please note: An uploaded image will only be resized if its original width or height dimensions are greater than what you've specified here. The image size will not be INCREASED. = Large Image height : If you would prefer to define the Large Image's maximum height instead of the width, you can do so here. The width/height ratio remains the same even after the image is resized. Please note: You can enter a value in both the 'Large Image Width' field and the 'Large image Height' fields. If the user uploads a "horizontal" image, the max width value will be used and, if the user uploads a "vertical" image, the max height value will be used. The width/height ratio will remain the same. = Thumbnail Width : Desired maximum width of the thumbnails. = Thumbnail Height : Desired maximum height of the thumbnails. = Thumbnail Quality : The smaller the image dimensions used on a webpage, the lower the quality of the image can be without necessarily degrading the appearance of the image. This is used in an effort to save on disk space. 70 is the default value. = Maximum kbytes : This is the maximum filesize of the member's image that can be uploaded. If the filesize of the image they are trying to upload is greater than this value, the image will not be uploaded and they will receive an error stating: Size exceeds limit! Filename: their_filename.jpg Upload size exceeds limit of (your value) kb Please correct and try again
